Colourful painting on card of an artist's interpretation of the COVID-19 pandemic. Featured in the painting is a bench with black and yellow tape across it, an arm with a cannula, medication, a pot of flowers and a rainbow. There is a gold line running through the centre of the painting which is a reference to The Golden Thread Sketchbook Project, for which this painting was made.

Ozlem Yikici created The Unexpected Starts Here during lockdown for a collaborative art project.
The painting references her journey just prior to and through lockdown, including: being admitted to hospital for an operation to remove her appendix, the bouquet of flowers she received from work prior to her role being made redundant, and going for daily walks during lockdown - only to discover all the restrictions imposed in her local park.
Her journey ends on a positive note with the painting also referencing how lockdown gave her the time and opportunity to focus on a career as an artist.
“Whilst on this journey of recovery my love for art and creativity rekindled. I found the courage and faith to believe I can be a successful artist. Like a beating heart and a free-flowing river, the golden thread weaves through the painting, breathing life into the heart of my journey.
From the removal of my appendix to seeing hearts in blossoms and trees, to finding my colourful passion in art and life, like a light filtering through the trees capturing imaginations and possibilities.
It happened all too quickly. A surreal whirlwind of a bad dream turning good. This was my journey, sad blue overtones to faith building courage and spiritual strength.”
