Personal experiences
Shared by Fay Clark, donor:
“It was quite an interesting time. I was never very political in Guyana, but I got a bit political here because my husband was a councillor. I got involved in quite a few things.
If you're a councillor you have to have your home contact details made public, and people used to phone up and they would talk to you even though he was the named person. They'd phone up and most people were very kind and they'd said to me “oh I know that you can't help me” and I'd listen to them. With the abusive ones I always thought you'd never put the phone down on people, so I used to take all this abuse until I went to a course and they said to me “Oh no, you can put the phone down, you don’t have to take that.”
