Book owned during the Second World War by Leon Bernstein, a Jewish soldier in the army.
Leon enlisted in the army when he was 17 years old. He was a rifleman for the 7th Armoured Division - Rifle Brigade. Aged 18 he became a warrant sergeant, and was sent to Europe.
Leon served at the Battle of El Alamein 1942, where he fought hand-to-hand combat.
Leon helped liberate the concentration camps, such as Bergen-Belsen. He left the army in 1947.
