Object history

The Five Points Brewing Company is an independent brewery based in 61 Mare Street, Hackney that was founded by Ed Mason and Greg Hobbs in 2013.

The brewery was originally located in a railway arch underneath Hackney Downs station, taking its name from the five-way junction of Amhurst Road, Pembury Road, Dalston Lane, and Lower Clapton Road that was metres away. In 2018, the company started a crowdfunding campaign, raising over £1 million to acquire Pembury Tavern, a landmark Hackney pub located right on the five-way junction, that was built in the 1860s. In 2021, Five Points relocated their entire brewery to their existing warehouse premises on Mare Street, as well as launching their first on-site brewery taproom.
