"IT'S BEEN A GREAT SEASON"
Says the Stadium Chairman
Like all you good folks, I feel a touch of sadness tonight at the end of an exciting and eventful speedway racing season.
But, as the curtain is rung down, let us count our blessings and look forward in all gladness to what promising future holds.
My personal ambition, to revive speedway racing at our stadium, has at long last been realised.
I am grateful for my good fortune in having Mike Parker as the Promoter. There is no better in the speedway world, and we can surely rely upon "Mike" to lead Hackney Speedway to greater achievements in the years to come.
Captain Norman Hunter has demonstrated his outstanding ability as one of the most spectacular personalities in the sport. His leadership of "Hawks" team has been both inspiring and effective and supporters have rightly taken him warmly to their hearts.
Ron Dyer, the Hackney Speedway Supporter's Club Secretary, and his Committee on their splendid efforts. I have never witnessed such a keen and hard-working organisation, and the success of the 1963 Hackney SPeedway season could not have been achieved without their enthusiasm.
To you all - Riders, Supporters and Staff of Hackney Speedway - we have been delighted to have you at East London's best and most popular stadium, and where a warm welcome awaits you during the close season and a bumper reception at the re-opening of the 1964 season.
Yours most sincerely, in sport,
FRED WHITEHEAD
