Holiday Savings Club 1960s
The Workers’ Circle Friendly Society was a socialist Jewish society with strong political ideals. The founder members in 1909 were mainly cabinet-makers who aimed to improve working and social conditions in the East End. In 1957, the Workers’ Circle moved its offices to a new Circle House in Hackney, following the Jewish community’s gradual shift out of the East End.
This savings club made it possible for workers to spread the cost of a holiday throughout the year.
