A recreation of the 1842 meeting of the London Chartists, the first mass working class movement in Britain, in a hall in Whitechapel, east London. It shows William Cuffay, the son of a slave and the London Chartists' elected president, collecting signatures for the People's Charter demanding universal suffrage, equal representation, the abolition of the property qualification, annual parliaments and payment of members.
