Object history

This quilted house coat or dressing gown was made by Pandit Bros Ltd. in Balls Pond Road. The fabric design was inspired by the popular 1970s big, bold and stylised flowers of the time. This gown was designed to be worn in the house, to keep the wearer warm before gas central heating and other technological developments helped to make the home warmer.
