Physical Description

Square B&W photograph with a white border. The photo show a number of people sitting at work stations with sewing machines in front of them, from the bottom left of the image diagonally through the centre of the image. There is an apex roof with shafts of light shining in, onto the people working.

Object history

This photograph shows mainly women working inside Pandit & Partners Ltd. They are using the sewing machines to stitch together different pieces of cut fabric to make dressing gowns and housecoats. The company would produce these to fulfill orders from fashion labels and retailers.
