Object history
Hackney Under Fives was founded in 1973 to support local families with children under 5 years of age by providing information, producing a guide listing available services and facilities in Hackney. They also supported and advocated for nurseries and playgroups, and organised demonstrations related to childcare provision, such as calling for a thousand more nursery places in Hackney in 1977, and later taking part in the ‘Save Hackney’ campaign. It lost its funding in early 1991.
