Object history
The Gay Games is billed as the world’s largest LGBTIQ+ sporting and cultural event. It is held in a different international city every four years. In 1998, members of the running club the Hackney Women Harriers travelled to Amsterdam to take part alongside 12,000 athletes from around the world.
