Physical Description

Rectangular black and white landscape photograph with a white border around it. The photo shows a groups of adults seated around a table looking towards the camera. Of the 10 people in the photo, three are South Asian men and the other are White women. The table in front of them has an assortment of glass bottles with liquid in them, and some plates, one with a pile of biscuits, another two with sweets or snacks and two are empty.

Object history

This photograph was taken at a meal for Pandit Bros Ltd staff. It shows the three men who ran the company and a number of their female employees. As the company specialised in textile manufacturing, it had a predominantly female workforce, both in the factory and those who did piece work from home.

The man on the far left is Devi Pershad Pandit who founded the company. The other two men are may be his brothers, Rameshwar Dial Sharma and Devki Nandan Sharma.
