Object history
This badge was owned and worn by Hackney activist and councillor Peter Kahn. It is linked to the local support and campaign for the mining communities of South Wales during the Miners' Strike.
The design of this badge, known as the 'Smiling Sun', was originally designed by Anne Lund in Denmark 1975. Lund signed over the rights of the design to signed over the rights to the Danish group Organization for Information on Nuclear Power (OOA). The design was translated into different languages and became a recognisable symbol against nuclear power worldwide.
