Object history
This badge belonged to Hackney based union activists Mary Pimm and Nik Wood.
It is probably linked to the T.U.C's special Women's Action Day held on 29 October 1983 under this slogan. A subversion of the phrase 'A women's place is in the home/kitchen', the aim of the day was to challenge the idea of unions as a male dominated area, and to encourage women to become more active, especially at branch level.
The slogan continued to be used by union activists throughout the 1980s, including at further woman action days.
