Object history
This badge belonged to Hackney based Abortion Rights member Mary Pimm, who became involved in the campaign after her retirement. Locally, the campaign was concerned with the voting record of MP Meg Hillier, who in 2008 voted to reduce the legal time limit in which an abortion can take place.
Personal experiences
Experience shared by Mary Pimm, Hackney based former member of Abortion Rights:
Years ago, when I was 23, I got pregnant. And the relationship was
over by the time I discovered I was pregnant. Fortunately due to the 6-7 month I was
able to have an abortion, but otherwise my life would have been ruined. So I'm very
much pro-choice.
