Object history
International Women's Week is a week long programme of events around women's rights centered on International Women's Day on the 8th March.
In 1986, Hackney Council's Women's Unit and Race Relations Women's Advisers arranged a series of events for the week on the theme of "Women of Strength, Voices of Struggle". The design of this badge reflects the programme's emphasis on "black and ethnic minority women in Hackney."
A highlight of the programme was a lecture by Angela Davis at Hackney Town Hall.
