Physical Description

12-inch vinyl record with a painting of artist - Eddy Grant - on the front. In the image, Grant wears a shiny black jacket, silver pendant necklace and is surrounded by a blue-white halo of light. The album name 'Message Man' and the artist name run along the top of the artwork. On the reverse side of the artwork, all lyrics to the record's songs are printed in light blue. 'Message Man' is Grant's second album and touches on socio-political topics such as 'Race Hate' and 'Cockney Black'.

Object history

'Message Man' is Grant's second album. This album includes unspecified creative contribution from Akwila Simpasa, a Zambian-born artist, sculptor and musician. Grant and Simpasa performed together and were close friends. In the album credits for this record, Grant thanks Simpasa for 'making [him] the Message Man'.
